In the over 20 years I have practiced veterinary medicine, I have observed, year after year, dogs and cats ill with certain contagious diseases. Two observations
have applied virtually 100% of the time.
1.) The pet had not been vaccinated at all or not been kept current on vaccines.
2.) The pet had been vaccinated by the owner or breeder with OTC (off-brand) vaccines, at certain humane organizations or spay/neuter clinics, or at "shot clinics" of various types.
While we make no statement regarding the quality of care given by any veterinarian, the quality of any vaccine (except those sold OTC) or the care given by any organization, group or other
business, based on my observations and experience we choose to exclude pets vaccinated as described above for the safety and protection of pets which are in our
care.
While this may not guarantee that no pet in our care ever becomes ill, we feel this policy has greatly helped keep those pets entrusted with us happy and healthy.
